This is a virtual event

Lawmakers failed to pass a state budget for the next two years before the regular session of the Connecticut General Assembly adjourned. Legislative leaders and the governor are now meeting with a July 31 deadline to do so — leaving little time to urge better choices than more cuts and failed austerity policies.

That's why as a union we're joining labor, faith, and community groups to make sure our elected representatives understand the values we expect to be reflected in any final budget. It's critical that we show support for raising new revenues to invest in public PreK-12 and higher education — and for policies based on tax fairness and shared sacrifice.

Take a moment to share one of the following images on your personal Facebook page and Twitter feed, along with a short "fair share budget" message:

Suggested message: I support a #FairShareBudgetCT with shared sacrifice & new revenue to be invested in quality #EarlyEd for all CT's children.

Suggested message: I support a #FairShareBudgetCT with shared sacrifice & new revenue to be invested in quality #PublicEd for all CT's students.

Suggested message: I support a #FairShareBudgetCT with shared sacrifice & new revenue to be invested in quality #HigherEd for all CT's students.

Then share the image and message on your state Representative and Senator's social media channels — they need to hear from us before returning to Hartford for a special legislative session
