Walnut Creek's Planning Commission is set to vote this Thursday, August 27, on a project that would turn a downtown surface parking lot into 104 new homes -- including 14 affordable units for very-low and moderate-income households -- plus new ground-floor retail.

This is the kind of infill housing our region needs to tackle California's housing crisis, and city staff is already recommending approval. But these votes go smoother when Commissioners see actual community members show up to say new homes are welcome here.
