Speak Out About Hospital Closures! Press Conference & City Council Hearing
Start: Tuesday, October 29, 2024•12:00 PM

Join with fellow everyday New Yorkers and our sympatico elected public officials as we speak out to preserve our community hospitals!
- Press Conference on City Hall steps at 12 noon
- Public hearing in City Council Chambers starting at 1 p.m.
For more than two decades, hospitals across New York City have been closed in medically-underserved communities where many lower-income people, immigrants and people of color, and uninsured people live. Meanwhile, large hospital networks have formed that are dominated by big, politically-influential academic medical centers, and they have been relocating and concentrating services to communities where well-off, well-insured, and less people of color live. Yet state regulators do little to stop it.
On Tues. Oct. 29, the City Council's Hospitals Committee and Health Committee are holding a joint public hearing about this crisis.
SHARE YOUR OWN STORY about what has been happening in your community when hospitals close or move services elsewhere, and what it has meant to you and your family, loved ones, and neighbors.
VOICE YOUR OWN OPINION about what city officials can and should do to keep our community hospitals open to serve our local communities everywhere across our city.
Note: Written testimony can be any length, but oral testimony is limited to 2 minutes only.
Feel free to bring your own signs and banners to the press conference!
