Spokane Communities of Faith - Alliance Presentation

Start: Thursday, September 07, 2017 7:00 PM

It breaks the hearts of faithful citizens of Washington that the United States is pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords. Because we are committed to caring for God’s creation and Earth’s ecosystems, we know it is up to us to set limits on pollution, protect the health of our neighbors, and leave a better world and stronger economy for our children. Washington State can and should join the growing number of states and regions acting to reduce carbon emissions and build a clean energy future.

Join Earth Ministry and other leaders of the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy at Westminster UCC on Thursday, September 7 at 7pm for a lively presentation and discussion on climate change and Washington’s future. Learn how together we can put a winning initiative on the Washington ballot in 2018 that puts a price on carbon and invests in renewable energy, healthy forests, and clean water. The Alliance is a group of faith, labor, business, communities of color, environmental, and health advocates who have created a fair and effective energy policy for a just transition to a clean energy future. Invite your congregation’s Green Team, your “spiritual but not religious” friends, and those who value the health of our region. We’ll present an overview of the values we share, the problems of the warming climate, and some clear steps to creating jobs, building a clean energy economy, and preventing the worst effects of a warming climate.
