New York, NY -- Hundreds will gather as major NYC labor unions join community groups and elected officials for an emergency rally to demand the immediate release of detained SEIU California President David Huerta and an end to ICE raids.

Among their demands are to free longtime labor and civil rights leader David Huerta from federal detention and an end to the Trump Administration's escalatory actions on American communities, including by standing down the California National Guard and ending the brutal ICE raids that are terrorizing immigrant workers and their communities.

Huerta is the president of SEIU California and SEIU United Service Workers West (USWW), representing more than 45,000 janitors, security officers, airport service workers, and other property service workers across California. Heurta was injured and arrested at an ICE raid in Los Angeles Friday while exercising his First Amendment right to observe and document law enforcement activity. He's set to be arraigned Monday.

The unions will speak out in support of Huerta and condemn the clear, ongoing attacks on immigrant communities, workers and first amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution."
