This April, Stop Highway 413, in solidarity with other civil climate resistance groups around the world, such as Just Stop Oil in the UK and Save Old Growth in British Columbia, will be engaging in non violence civil resistance. We will be blocking key infrastructure like highways, causing disruption against the governments criminal inaction on the climate emergency.

By signing this Action Network, I, __________ formally pledge to be arrested with Stop Highway 413 starting April 1 and the next few weeks and attend a least one non violent direct action training before being arrested.

What is Stop Highway 413?

Stop Highway 413 is a civil resistance campaign aimed to get the Ontario government to cancel the proposed highway 413 that would run-through good farmland soil and wetlands, as well as adding more CO2 to the atmosphere. In early March, Stop Highway 413 sent an ultimatum to the Ontario government to cancel the proposed highway by April 1, and if not we would enter into civil resistance by blocking the 400 series highway.  

The Ontario government has know full well for over 30 years the consequences of the climate crisis and has failed to act. Since 1990, global greenhouse gases and carbon dioxide emissions have increased by 60%. The Ontario government is commiting a genocide against the world's youth and future generations by failing to protect nature and significantly and rapidly stop carbon emissions.

The climate movement in Ontario needs a win. If we get this win we'll show the world it's possible to enact legislative change through non violent civil resistance.
