Join us for an overnight vigil of solidarity with people experiencing homelessness. We will gather outside Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, overlooking Parliament, to express our opposition to the government’s proposed Move-On Orders for people sleeping rough and to dream and pray for alternative solutions to homelessness.

Come prepared to listen to others, to play board games and to hear speeches, music and poetry that spark your imagination. We invite you to stay through the night, so bring a sleeping bag or blanket and come prepared to dwell outside in the cold as we keep vigil, pray and advocate for a more compassionate response to homelessness. Everyone is welcome. Children accompanied by a parent/guardian are welcome until 10pm (please no under 18-year-olds staying overnight).

This event is organised by Common Grace Aotearoa, and supported by the Anglican Diocese of Wellington, Catholic Archdiocese of Wellington, Wellington City Mission, the Social Policy and Parliamentary Unit of the Salvation Army, Wellington Central Baptist Church, St Paul’s Lutheran Church, St John's in the City Presbyterian Church, Wellington Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and the Methodist Alliance.

Most of the event will take place on the forecourt of the Cathedral. The Cathedral has wheelchair access to the main building and toilets. Children accompanied by a parent/guardian are welcome until 10pm, but please no children (under 18) staying overnight. We are unable to provide sign language interpreters for speeches, and apologise for any inconvenience this causes.
