Strike for Australia
Start: Friday, January 10, 2020• 2:00 PM
End: Friday, January 10, 2020• 6:00 PM
The Australian fires are a crisis for the people, animals, and ecosystems of not only Australia but the entire world. At the time of this post 18 million acres of land have burned, at least 25 people have died, 2,000 homes have been destroyed, and at least 480 million animals have been killed including 1/3 of the koala population. The Australian government and governments around the world still fail to adquately face the climate emergency, instead further digging themselves into denial and lies. The Australian PM even went on vacation to Hawaii during this crisis, leaving his people in critical condition with over 100 thousand residents being evacuated and thousands of firefighters risking their lives. This is proof that the biggest disasters will not force our "leaders" into action, our only hope is the power of the people. This is why we organize, this is why we mobilize, this is #whywestrike.
