Sun Day Picnic and Celebration at Holmdel Park
NJ Sierra Club

SunDay is a global day of action on September 21st, 2025, celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy. We’ll come together to showcase the power of the sun and wind, the energy sources that can power our world without pollution.

That’s why on Sunday, September 21, NJ Sierra Club will host a Picnic and Celebration as part of Sun Day, the first-ever nationwide day of action calling for the large-scale deployment of clean energy that is affordable, reliable and ready to go. Nationally, solar power is currently the cheapest form of energy and New Jersey has hit the milestones of 5 GIGAWATTS of solar capacity! With NJ's technological innovations, but we need to do more to scale up community and grid-scale solar. By attending, you can join the organizations and families that are leading the way to a clean energy future.

Our picnic celebration will be held at Holmdel Park in Monmouth County, in reference to the history of the first photovoltaic cell (solar panel technology) being invented at the nearby Bell Labs!

Our Sun Day event will feature:

  • 📣 A short speaking program
  • 🖌️ Organizational tabling, including family-friendly crafts and activities
  • 🥪 Free food and beverages
  • 🎶 Music
  • 🍦 Ice cream
  • 🥾 Short and accessible community hike
We will be at the "Shelter Building" event site within Holmdel Park.

We hope to see you on September 21st at Holmdel Park! RSVP now!

This park has a nearby walkable parking lot and our hike will be beginner friendly.
