An appointee of Scott Walker will be standing for a new, ten-year term. Republican partisan hacks on the Wisconsin supreme court are a crucial part of voter suppression, gerrymandering, the maintenance of minority rule and the attack on women's and workers' rights in that key state. Last year, the non-partisan candidate for an open seat (endorsed by nearly every judge in Wisconsin) lost to an unqualified, far-right hack by about 6,000 votes (out of 1.2M cast). So getting out the vote matters. Restoring democracy in Wisconsin is important to defending it in the rest of the country.
