Swing Left East Bay January 5 Letter Writing Party in North Berkeley
Start: Sunday, January 05, 2020• 2:00 PM
It's time to get to work on 2020!
Join me for a house party, where we'll be writing letters get out the
vote of traditionally underrepresented populations for the Wisconsin
Supreme Court election this April. An appointee of Scott Walker will be
standing for a new, ten-year term. Republican partisan hacks on the
Wisconsin supreme court are a crucial part of voter suppression,
gerrymandering, the maintenance of minority rule and the attack on
women's and workers' rights in that key state. Last year, the
non-partisan candidate for an open seat (endorsed by nearly every judge
in Wisconsin) lost to an unqualified, far-right hack by about 6,000
votes (out of 1.2M cast). So getting out the vote matters. Restoring
democracy in Wisconsin is important to defending it in the rest of the
country. This award-winning, proven tactic will help us work on crucial races all over the country - right from our living rooms!
