Tacoma Climate Strike
Start: Friday, September 20, 2019• 2:00 PM
On September 20, the young people of Tacoma are rising up to protect the people and the places that we love. We are raising our voices to make sure we have a livable, just, and equitable future. This is part of the Global Youth Climate Strike on that day with an anticipated turnout of 3 million people mobilizing in the face of the climate crisis. We are working in a growing coalition with 350 Tacoma, Protectors of the Salish Sea, Washington Environmental Council, and Sunrise Washington.
We are not alone in this fight. Youth organizers around the world are calling for adult allies to join with them in this crucial moment. Together we are strong, united, and together with other movements for change.
September 20 is the start of the youth uprising. Our voices will continue to grow across the nation and the world until the people in power make the changes we need in the scope and scale of the climate crisis. We will be joining and amplifying our voices together with the indigenous leaders of the Protectors of the Salish Sea. We have a shared vision of flowing like two streams of water across Tacoma, joining our streams to form a mighty river, and walking all the way to the state Capitol to demand a declaration of a Climate Emergency for the State of Washington.
