The War Economy: Militarism and the Proliferation of Gun Violence

By engaging in highly publicized, non-violent moral fusion direct action, over a 6-week period in at least 30 states and the District of Columbia between May 13 and June 23, the Campaign will force a serious national examination of the enmeshed evils of systemic racism, systemic poverty, ecological devastation and the war economy.

Monday, May 28 (Memorial Day) noon to Tuesday, May 29, noon - Boston Common

Join the Massachusetts Poor People’s Campaign as we hold a vigil to challenge the War Economy. Speakers will include veterans, people from countries impacted by U.S. militarism, advocates for people’s needs that have been defunded because of the war economy, and those impacted by gun violence.   We will hear music, poetry, and speeches by those personally impacted, and have the opportunity to participate in teach-ins.

Tuesday, May 29, 2pm, Boston Common, Shaw & 54th Regiment Memorial (steps across from the State House, leading down from Beacon St into the Common)

Join us as we rally to demand change from our elected officials. Speakers will include veterans, people from countries impacted by U.S. militarism, advocates for people’s needs that have been defunded because of the war economy, and those impacted by gun violence.  Those who wish to will then enter the State House and present symbols and letters to our elected officials.
