Take Action In South Carolina On May 29

Start: Tuesday, May 29, 2018 2:00 PM

Week Three (May 27 - June 2)

We Demand Peace From Parkland To Palestine!

This week we'll shine a light on the war economy, militarism, and the proliferation of gun violence.

Did you know that 53 cents of every federal discretionary dollar goes to military spending, and only 15 cents is spent on anti-poverty programs? And even with all of that spending, we are failing our veterans. Over 100,100 veterans have incomes below 35,000 dollars in South Carolina—that's 26 percent of South Carolina’s veteran population. South Carolina continues to militarize our law enforcement agencies, which have received at least 77.5 million dollars in military grade equipment. And just a few weeks ago, Governor McMaster made the decision to send our National Guard to the border.

We're shifting the narrative in this country, and demanding that our legislators end military aggression, ban the proliferation of guns, and demilitarize our communities on the border and the interior.

Join us at 11am on Tuesday for a pre-rally gathering and direct action training at the UU Church of Columbia at 2701 Heyward St. This is mandatory for those doing civil disobedience that day, but all are welcome to come for music and fellowship!

If you need a ride to Columbia, sign up for a carpool here! And, if you can volunteer at the rally sign up here and we'll contact you with more information.
