Join Democracy Out Loud, Indivisible, NC Poor People's Campaign, Union of Southern Service Workers (USSW), Be A Hero and others for a rally and march outside the offices of US Senators Thom Tillis and Ted Budd to tell them to vote NO to the Big Really Bad Bill passed by the US House.
Right now, hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians’ health is on the line.
Congress is trying to rush through One Big Bad Bill that would:
Kick 10.9 million people off their health insurance
Slash funding for community health centers, rural hospitals, and home care
Gut $250 billion from SNAP, making it harder for kids and families to eat
All to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.
I live in Durham with my family, and like so many families here, we depend on our local hospitals and clinics. If this bill passes and Congress refuses to renew an expiring ACA provision, 470,000 North Carolinians could lose their health insurance. The impacts would be devastating for our communities and economy.
This dangerous bill would:
- Strip 255,000 North Carolinians of Medicaid coverage by adding red tape meant to push people off the rolls
- Eliminate ACA subsidies, putting coverage out of reach for another 470,000 people across the state
- Put dozens of our safety net hospitals at risk of closure
- Drain over $1 billion a year from North Carolina's healthcare system
Meanwhile, Senator Tillis has signaled he wants even deeper cuts.
We won’t let this happen without a fight. Join us on Wednesday, June 18 @ 11:00am outside the Federal Building in Raleigh.
