Elections are right around the corner, and for the first time a record 32 million Latinos are projected to be eligible to raise their voice at the polls by casting their ballot. Voter enthusiasm and turnout has also increased among Latino voters, which has led us to become a significant voting bloc. It is estimated that 40 percent of eligible Latino voters are between the ages of 18-35, and that some 500,000 U.S. born citizens of Latino backgrounds will turn 18 every year, for the next 20 years. Older generations of voters also continue to play a crucial role in our nation’s democracy, as it is estimated that nearly 23 percent of the electorate will be 65 or older in November. LCLAA and AARP are joining forces in order to highlight the importance of the Latino vote. From the ballot that a young person will cast for the very first time, to the ones deposited in the box by our community’s elders; we all count. Join us on October 8th from 6-7 pm ET for a timely discussion on why our vote matters, and how to go to the polls in a safe way amid the current pandemic.
