Cyber-space is an evolving environment which is increasingly used across all fields of human activity. It is an environment which is vulnerable to the use of cyber-attacks that can have devastating impacts. It is also an environment which is used by militaries in war fighting and defence. And it is an environment that is used in diplomacy and peacebuilding.

This webinar event will focus primarily on the topic of disarmament, warfare and peace in cyberspace. Speakers will examine the nature of warfare in cyber-space, the use of cyber-platforms for military actions, existing mechanisms and law to control cyber-warfare and examples of good policies and parliamentary action to address this issue.

The webinar is being organised in response to the Resolution adopted at the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly entitled Cyber-warfare: A serious threat to Peace and Global Security, and as one of a number of events in follow-up to the launch of Assuring our Common Future, a parliamentary handbook published in November 2020 to assist implementation of Securing our Common Future, the Disarmament Agenda released by the UN Secretary-General.
