606 shoes at Parliament on World Suicide Prevention Day

Hi I'm Patrice,

Help me and other bereaved families put 606 shoes (representing loved-ones lost to suicide) on Parliament grounds on World Suicide Prevention Day.

  • 11 am - Noon - Setup shoes on Parliament grounds
  • Noon - 12:30 am - Bereaved families from roadshow speak
  • 12:30 am - 1pm - Open mic for other bereaved Kiwis
  • 1 pm - 2 pm - Pack down parliament grounds
  • 2 pm - 3 pm - Setup shoes at Cenotaph
  • 3 pm - 5 pm - Vigil
  • 5 pm - 6 pm - Setup candles
  • 6 pm - 8 pm - Candle vigil
  • 8 pm - 9 pm - Pack down candles and shoes

Suicide prevention and mental health are key election issues for the first time in living memory.

Yet the Government vetoed setting a suicide target a panel they setup recommended (We still don't have a target). They refuse to hold an independent mental health inquiry, despite 77% of Kiwis wanting one.

It's time politicians did what's right. They need to put aside politics so other families don't go through what we have.

We have a unique opportunity to make real change. But we don't have long until the election.

Help us get in the media so we can tell voters what's needed to make change.

Yours,

Patrice
