Families Belong Together & Free 24 Hour Vigil

Start: Thursday, July 19, 201811:00 AM

The deadline to reunite families was this past Tuesday, yet less than half of the families under the age of 5 have been reunited

We must continue to bear witness to this crisis and push the demand that ICE reunite the families, stop the inhumane practice of locking up immigrant families, stop any plans to build family detention camps on military bases, and close down existing family detention facilities.

The week of July 16, as part of the National Week of Action, where there will be mobilization of nannies, childcare providers, teachers, parents and other caregivers across the country to send a powerful message denouncing the detention and separation of immigrant children and families, and the “zero tolerance” policy and mass prosecutions that have caused the current crisis at the border.

In MA, on 7/19 we're having a 24 Hour Vigil starting at 11 AM in Government Center (next to Sen. Warren's office, USCIS, ICE) in Boston with a Healing/Prayer Circle + Press Conference, and launching a participatory large art mural on the ground with the message "Families Belong Together & Free" that will be completed by participants (youth, families, visitors etc) throughout the day where there be varying family-friendly activities and workshops hosted by community groups!
