Transit Town Hall

This is a virtual event

Welcome to the RSVP page for the virtual Town Hall on Transit, exploring how we can advance the cause of public transportation in our region. I'm happy to report that on Wednesday May 11th, the Let's Go SD campaign submitted a whopping 165K signatures to the registrar of voters, meaning that public transit will be on the ballot in November! The measure, if it wins, will impose a half-cent sales tax to pay for transit expansions, upgrades, repairs and improvements. At the Town Hall, we will meet Gretchen Newsom, one of the architects of the ballot initiative, who is an amazing organizer, with all kinds of insights and experience about how to make something like this happen. We will also hear from UCSD Transportation Director Josh Kavanagh about how campus is electrifying university transportation, integrating it with the Blue Line extension, and incentivizing commute alternatives. Please RSVP to get the event on your calendar, or simply log on here on Wednesday May 18th at 3pm:

Because 41% of regional greenhouse gas emissions are from road travel!

Because Elon Musk is not going to save us from climate change!

Because public transit IS environmental justice!
