Two-Child Benefit Cap! Campaign Planning Meeting.
This
planning meeting will address action we can take against the harmful
impacts of the two-child benefit cap on families in the North East of
England, targeting people who are responsible for it continuing locally.
This
policy limits financial support to the first two children in a family,
leaving many households struggling. Here’s why this cap is particularly
bad for our region:
Increased Child Poverty: Newcastle and the
West end particularly already has high rates of child poverty. The cap
makes it even harder for families with more than two children to make
ends meet, pushing more kids into poverty.
Big Families Suffer
More: Many families here have more than two children. They are hit the
hardest by the cap, losing crucial financial support for their
additional kids.
Health Issues: Financial stress from the cap can
lead to poorer health for parents and children, worsening an already
significant health problem in the North East.
Minimal Savings:
The money saved by the government from this cap is very small compared
to the significant help would provide to families in need.
Take a stand against the two-child benefit cap!
