VISIT REPRESENTATIVE WEBSTER'S OFFICE TUES. DEC. 12 TO OPPOSE THE GOP TAX BILL THAT DOESN'T PROTECT DREAMERS Join me to protest the GOP tax bill! I plan to visit Congressman Daniel Webster's office on Tuesday, Dec. 19th at 10 am at 15 N. Main Street in Brooksville to personally present his staff with the reasons why I urge him to oppose the tax bill. Please join me. If you cannot be there at 10am, drop by anytime on Tuesday between 9am and 5pm to speak out about why our representative should not sign this bill. Or email him. Every day the Dream Act does not pass, undocumented youth are at risk of detention and deportation. Thousands have already lost their work permits, jobs, and sense of safety. We need as many people as possible to show their support and vigils are a great way to mobilize a lot of people to show this broad public support. See below my letter outlining my major concerns. Hope to see you there! DeeVon December 19, 2017 Representative Daniel Webster Via personal delivery to your Brooksville office Dear Congressman: As the holidays approach, many good citizens are apprehensive. We are threatened by the passage of the proposed GOP tax bill. It will make life difficult for the most vulnerable in our society at a time when we should be helping each other during the holidays. It is hard to get in the spirit of Christmas when so many are at risk of vital health care, education and even the right to be here without risk of deportation. Please vote NO on the tax bill for many good reasons. · No relief for Dreamers: Failure to provide a pathway to become legal residents for Dreamers, innocent Americans who have done nothing wrong and know no other home than America · Cuts to education: potential $250 billion in cuts to classrooms and 250,000 educator jobs in jeopardy. · Cuts the US EPA budget so that this agency cannot meet its mission to protect our environment. · Health care loss: The individual mandate for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will be dismantled, leaving up to 13 million people without affordable health insurance. · Cuts to Medicare: $25 billion a year in automatic cuts to Medicare ($400 billion over 10 years) that will impact many ill, disabled and aging in our society. · It is fiscally irresponsible: We don’t need to intentionally create a $1.5 trillion dollar deficit at a time when the economy is doing well; unemployment is low and no business stimulus is needed. That money could fund a massive jobs-producing infrastructure bill that American really needs right now. This tax plan will only result in more income to the richest in our nation, especially those with stock in large corporations that will pass on the tax savings in the form of higher dividends to shareholders, not their employees—that is, unless you are a CEO or other highly-paid executive. It gives more money to the rich on the backs of the poor. This is not right, nor Christian (as you say you are) nor do you represent your constituents best interests in voting for this bill. We will remember this at election time. Please vote NO on the tax bill. Very truly yours, DeeVon Quirolo 222 East Liberty Street Brooksville, FL 34601
