Volunteer Action Meet-up

Start: Sunday, March 12, 201711:00 AM

End: Sunday, March 12, 2017 1:00 PM

Take action for our future and our children's futures, and volunteer with Houston Women March. We're gathering teams to carry out the work we started in January, when we committed that WE WILL work together for change. We convene and mobilize women and their allies to take informed action for ourselves and our communities.

What is your passion? Equal rights, health care, the environment, justice, immigration, education, economic development, voting rights, or if a foreign government interfered with our elections?

HWM workgroups  coordinate actions for the core issues we're facing, while other workgroups will strengthen our movement by building capacity and helping with other internal and external organizational needs. As part of this, we will coordinate and collaborate with other groups working on these focus areas as well. We want to connect Houstonians who are new to civic involvement to the trustworthy groups working on their behalf.

What skills are needed? If you have decided to stand up and work for change, you have what we need. Certainly, if you're a teacher we may encourage you to help with educational actions, or if you're a web designer, we may ask you to help our website. Bottom line: whatever your background, training, or skill set, there is a place for you here.

Our friends at Axelrad are opening their garden for us a little early on Sunday. Weather forecast looks good, we will arrange a rain date if that changes. We realize many people (including us!) have pre-existing commitments on Sunday mornings, and the next March-wide volunteer action meet-up will be on a different day of the week, or different time.
