This is a virtual event

We have two democratic socialists running for state legislature facing tight primaries in August: Mary Ellen Biggerstaff in Thurston County (LD 22) and Marianna Everson (LD19) in SW Washington. Not only are these campaigns helping build power in their local areas, but having DSA candidates in office will strengthen all our efforts to influence state policy. Join Olympia DSA for a rally to support these candidates and help build the power of DSA in Washington State.

At this event, you will hear from the candidates about their vision for a better state where our basic human rights of healthcare, housing, education, and justice are prioritized.

A little bit more about the candidates:

In the time of Covid-19, the need for legislators who understand both healthcare and needs of workers in general has never been more urgent. That's why we need Mary Ellen Biggerstaff, a practicing nurse, representing North Thurston County (LD 22, position 2) in the Washington State House of Representatives. She will fight for universal healthcare for all Washingtonians, as well as a Green New Deal, affordable housing, worker's rights, equitable taxation, and environmental justice. Mary Ellen Biggerstaff is endorsed by both our Local and National DSA as the candidate for working people. Check out Mary Ellen's platform at www.maryellenbiggerstaff.com

Timber Country needs a bold progressive organizer and legislator who will fight for working people, and continue rural western Washington's proud tradition of class struggle. Marianna Everson is a front-line healthcare worker battling COVID-19, who is running for Washington State House of Representatives in Legislative District 19. Olympia DSA is proud to endorse Marianna Everson, a working-class candidate with a platform of universal healthcare, a Green New Deal, social housing, criminal justice reform, gun safety, and public broadband. If you can't attend the event, please consider supporting the candidates with a donation or signing up to their email lists. Also talk to your friends and family in the District 22 and 19 about the candidates. And don't forget to vote by August 4.
