Hello Climate Activists!

Our 350 Washington County team is so excited for Climate Strike Friday!

Our main event is the 10am rally on the Hillsboro Civic Center Plaza at 150 East Main St. We hope for lots of folks - so please tell your family and friends to come on along. There is lots of parking on the streets downtown (including some EV slots) and at the Civic parking lot adjacent to to plaza. There might be showers or sprinkles, you are Oregonians, you know what to bring along to stay dry...

We have organized a short roster of excellent speakers, and we are very open to including more youth voices - if that could be you, or someone you know, please let us know asap!

Our leadership team is eager to maximize all of the public visibility we can on this important day, so we invite you to be as active as you wish to bring your fabulous messaging signs on the sidewalks and busy street corners around Hillsboro. Some of our early-riser folks plan to show up for morning drive time visibility (7am to 8am-ish) on the Main and First corner of the Washington County Courthouse square. Or NE 25th at Cornell. You are welcome to join them!

Beginning about 9am, we will have coffee and snacks - and art supplies to make your own poster before the rally - at the Washington County Democrats office in downtown Hillsboro at 140 NE 3rd Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124. We'll have some pre-made signs for folks to choose and use as well.

After the rally ends around 11am, many of us intend to continue peacefully walking with our signs around the sidewalks in downtown Hillsboro. To support that, we have organized a continued rest and recharge space about two blocks from the Plaza at the Washington County Democrats office, and we'll have sandwich fixings for Strikers who are hungry around lunchtime. We'd love to get to know you a bit and share in climate action community. And some folks are committed to again being visible on Hillsboro street corners during evening drive time - all good action you can choose to do if you like!

We'll have ideas for you to take away for the continuing week of climate action that you can share with friends and family.

For starters, everyone is welcome to join us at 2pm on Saturday afternoon for a free climate action film and good conversation about climate solutions. More info and registration link here.

We hope to see as many people as possible at the 10AM rally!
Beyond that, please feel free to attend as many or all of the events. If you can't make these events, you can still participate by sharing this event and talking to everyone you know about the Climate Crisis.
