How do people around the world think about militarism? This free webinar will feature a panel discussion from three different global perspectives on the impact of war.
- David Swanson, Co-Founder and Director of World BEYOND War, will speak from the perspective of a resident in the United States, the world's largest warmonger, and what it means to be an anti-war activist at a time when global opinion polls show that the U.S. is seen as the greatest threat to world peace.
- Kathy Kelly, Co-Coordinator of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, will speak from the perspective of someone who has lived through war and experienced first-hand the devastation that it causes. Kathy has lived in active combat zones in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Haiti, Lebanon, Gaza, and Palestine.
- Barry Sweeney, World BEYOND War Ireland Coordinator, will speak from the perspective of a resident of a less militaristic society, Ireland. How would people in Ireland react if half of their tax money was spent on war, as it is in the U.S.? Do Irish people feel that their country has any enemies? Despite being a less militaristic society, how does the Irish government facilitate U.S. warmongering?
Join us for this interesting panel discussion to consider the way in which war impacts people differently around the world - and how we can mutually work for a world beyond war.
