Virginia recently passed crucial legislation related to commercial gold mining and the resulting threats to the Commonwealth, but this was just a beginning step in the fight to protect our water and communities from gold mining operations! Join Friends of Buckingham and VA League of Conservation Voters at 6 pm on Thursday, March 18 to learn more about this important legislation, the dangers of commercial gold mining, and how you can take action.

You’ll hear from community members near current exploratory drilling happening in Virginia and from experts in the field, as well as Delegate Elizabeth Guzman, who sponsored the legislation. We’ll walk you through the current status of gold operations in Virginia and how communities near the gold-pyrite belt, downstream and beyond would be impacted if these operations are allowed to expand from exploration to commercial mining. We’ll also provide next steps on how you can get involved.

RSVP and the necessary link to join the webinar will be sent to you. Please reach out to info@friendsofbuckinghamva.org with any questions.  Thank you!
