Wellington ACC Action

Start: Friday, July 16, 2021 1:00 PM

End: Friday, July 16, 2021 2:00 PM

Come along to our action and join our hikoi from Parliament Lawn to the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) Office to call on ACC to go fossil free! We're planning a fun, comedic action where we all dress up as our Minister of Finance Grant Robertson, and direct ACC to divest from fossil fuels immediately.

The Minister of Finance Hon Grant Robertson supported our call for ACC to divest in his annual letter of expectation to ACC’s Board members. You can read more about this exciting progress in our press release.

Our action on the 16th of July will involve us dressing up as a swarm of Grant Robertson's to send a clear message that our public money should be invested in the public good. Will you join us?

When: Friday 16th July, 1.00 pm
Where: We will meet at the New Zealand Parliament Lawn and slowly walk towards the ACC office on corner Molesworth Street and Hawkstone Street
Note: The walk will happen at a slow pace to be inclusive for anyone attending with small children or accessibility issues. Please let us know in the form if the walk isn’t possible for you & we’ll coordinate meeting with you at the ACC Office around 1.30pm for the delivery of our letter.

This action is part of 350 Aotearoa's ACC Go Fossil Free campaign. Last year our 350 Aotearoa community launched a campaign calling for ACC to manage our public funds for public good and divest from the fossil fuel industry that is driving the climate crisis. We’ve played an important role in 350 Wellington, by organising actions, writing letters, putting up posters, raising awareness and keeping the pressure on ACC online. Thank you for your role in our shared campaign so far!

We still have an important role to play in ensuring that ACC commits to divest from all coal, oil, and gas companies in a robust, transparent, and timely manner. We still need a commitment from ACC to divest from fossil fuels, so we're building the pressure on ACC and calling or the Board to announce its plans to divest from fossil fuels by 31 July 2021.

We’d love for you to a part of our action!
