Wichita Payday Loan Reform Town Hall
Start: Monday, August 09, 2021•07:00 PM
In place of our August KIFA chapter meeting in CD 4, we are encouraging our supporters to attend an
IMPORTANT DISCUSSION AROUND PAYDAY LENDING PRACTICES
Monday, August 9 at 7 p.m.
Atwater Neighborhood Resource Center
located at 2755 E. 19th St. N. Wichita, KS 67214.
In the State of Kansas payday lenders can charge hardworking people as much as 391% interest. Poorly regulated lending practices have a negative impact on families and the communities in which they live. Borrowers who struggle to repay loans may experience eviction, garnishment, loss of transportation for work, and even job loss.
Community members demand payday reform NOW. Please join Kansas Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau and Wichita Vice Mayor/District 1 Councilman Brandon Johnson when they attend our upcoming Town Hall meeting and listen to community concern regarding predatory lending practices. Community members will share about their experiences with payday loans and engage in dialogue to find solutions to the payday loan issue.
For more information, please reach Wichita Black Alliance member TiJuana Hardwell at (316) 806-8222 or via email. Thank you.
Attendees are encouraged to wear a mask.
