Winter Fuel Rally - Wales
Start: Tuesday, February 04, 2025•11:30 AM

The short rally outside the Senedd at 11:30am will be followed by speeches and refreshments at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre (500 yards away) from 12pm.
What are we protesting? Pensioners are suffering as a result of the cuts to winter fuel, but currently the Welsh government is not proposing any additional support in its spending plans for the coming year.
What are we calling for? We want to see dedicated funds for the pensioners who have been hit hardest by the cuts, either by establishing a support fund or by targeting payments to those most in need.
Why now? Welsh politicians will be debating the government spending plans on 4th February. Scotland and Northern Ireland have already announced funding to soften the blow of cuts to winter fuel. As long as the UK government doubles down on its cuts, we think the Welsh government needs to do more.
Who are Unite the Union and NPC Wales? Unite the Union is Britain & Ireland’s leading union, representing people in retirement as well as in work. It has 16,000 retired members in Wales alone. The National Pensioners Convention (NPC) Wales seeks to improve the living standards and welfare of all pensioners.
