Women's March - Ketchum
Start: Saturday, January 21, 2017•10:00 AM
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
What an amazing event we had in Ketchum today. We were over 1150 strong with participants from infants in arms to a 101 year old enthusiastic beauty in her wheelchair!
Our beautiful local angel, Tyia Wilson, sang a moving rendition of the National Anthem and later lead the crowd in singing Imagine, We Are The World, and America The Beautiful.
We also heard calls to action from Naomi Spence of the Hunger Coaltion, and Daina Motzkin of the Wood River Gay Straight Alliance.
The Wood River High School Cheerleading Squad lead the marchers in different chants at the head of the marchers who stretched up and down both sides of Main Street.
Other speakers included The Reverend Jill Iris, Theresa Gregory, Pedro Manual Miramontes, students from Flourish Foundation's Compassionate Leaders program. Community School senior Brydgitte de la Cruz lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Denise Simone concluded the gathering with a moving reading from poet Elizabeth Alexander.
The themes of the march included Justice, Human Rights, Inclusivity, Love, Community,
