What is Worker Wednesdays?

Every last Wednesday of the month, workers and community allies gather virtually on zoom to mobilize and organize for worker justice in BC. Worker Wednesdays offers a space to find pathways to obtain worker-led demands and to take action for legislative change to ensure workers are protected.

We encourage everyone to participate in whatever way feels best to them, whether that's camera on or off, being a listener, or using the chat to share their thoughts.

What happened last Worker Wednesday?

• Workers are rising and you can too! We heard from Ben Ger with the Labourer's International Union of North America, who shared a presentation on the organizing process on how YOU can unionize your workplace!
• Labour Justice is Climate Justice too! Workers know that there can be no just transition without labour justice. We have had a busy year with our climate-labour project and spent some time debriefing it, as well as discussing next steps
• Justice Delayed is Justice Denied! The Justice Denied campaign is ongoing and with the provincial budget release date looming, we are still pushing to ensure more funding to worker protections in BC! We debriefed our recent Victoria Justice Denied rally, shared our petition once more, and shared next steps with our upcoming Vancouver rally on Wednesday, January 18th, 12pm at Portal Park
• We reviewed WSN's work for 2022! As it was our final Worker Wednesday for 2022 we took the chance to review all we did and accomplished in 2022, and collaboratively crafted a vision for 2023 together with all our attending members to guide our work in 2023!
