Join us at the NYC AIDS Memorial for World AIDS Day – Monday, December 1st
All staff, clients, allies, family, friends and community members are welcome!
Join us Monday, December 1, 2025, at the NYC AIDS Memorial (Greenwich Ave & W 12th St) for our annual World AIDS Day observance where we will march, rally, and read the names of those we've lost to HIV/AIDS.
THIS World AIDS Day is not just a moment of remembrance—it’s a rallying cry! This year, we rise in resistance against a government that’s erasing decades of hard-won progress. Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic is not because we lack solutions, but because systemic failures—homelessness, racism, economic injustice, transphobia and stigma—continue to deny our communities the care and dignity they deserve. These aren’t just barriers—they’re acts of neglect.
NYC’s HIV Prevention Is Under Threat
The NYC Department of Health receives $36 million annually from the CDC for HIV prevention—funding that helped cut HIV cases by 71% over two decades. Slashing this support risks reversing that progress.
Federal Cuts Are Deadly
The Trump administration’s proposed $1.5 billion cut to the CDC and threats to dismantle the Ending the HIV Epidemic initiative in the U.S. could lead to 75,000 new infections and 7,500 AIDS-related deaths by 2030.
Global Impact Is Devastating
PEPFAR disruptions have already weakened global HIV services. If funding isn’t restored, up to 11 million new infections and 3 million deaths could occur over the next five years.
These decisions are costing lives.
We must show up as a united force. Our presence is a demand for justice, accountability, and restored funding. We will not be silenced. We will not be erased.
We invite you to volunteer as a reader in remembrance of those we've lost to HIV and AIDS. Readings will take place in 20-minute time slots between 12:00 PM and 5:40 PM.
If you signed up for a reading time slot, you should have received a separate email confirming your scheduled time.
If you were unable to sign up, we will make every effort to ensure that everyone who wishes to read has an opportunity to do so.
Join us for all or part of the day. March with us. Read names with us. Fight with us.
