Late at night, despite the voices of tens of thousands of Kentuckians in opposition, legislators rammed through anti-pension legislation on the back of a sewage bill. The 291-page piece of legislation titled “An Act relating to the local provision of wastewater services”, placed incoming teachers in a hybrid cash-balance plan instead of a traditional pension, violates the "inviolable contract", eliminates sick leave for the purposes of retirement eligibility, harms our first responders, and state retirees would also stand to lose a $5,000 death benefit. Let your lawmakers know: this is not acceptable. Let’s come together on Monday, April 2nd at 9 AM and stand alongside the firefighters, police officers, teachers, hazmat workers, and other public employees who deserve better than this.
