Apply to Join a Cohort of 30 Under 30 Young Korea Peace Activists

This July 27 will mark the 70th anniversary of the armistice that temporarily halted but did not end the Korean War. To call attention to the human costs of this unresolved war, peace advocates from around the country will converge in Washington, D.C., July 26-28, 2023, to call on President Biden and Congress to officially end the Korean War and replace the armistice with a peace agreement. A full schedule of events can be found here.

In honor of the late Hyun Lee, our beloved colleague and legendary organizer who passed away in 2022, we are sponsoring 30 people under age 30 to participate in two days of action with our powerful coalition of peace activists, artists, cultural workers, veterans, faith leaders, humanitarian aid workers, Korean Americans, and more.

Hyun devoted her life to realizing peace on the Korean Peninsula and played a key role in building the vibrant Korea Peace Now! Grassroots Network, which now consists of ten chapters nationwide. This movement led to the first-ever Congressional resolution calling for an end to the Korean War with a peace agreement.

In her final days, Hyun expressed her desire to cultivate more young activists to join and lead our grassroots movement for Korea peace. We can't think of a more beautiful way to honor her legacy than inviting 30 young people to join our action.

If this speaks to you, please fill out this form by May 23.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
