Ban Plastic Bags, Have Berkeley Lead the Way!

Dear Berkeley City Council,

So much of our plastic waste comes from single-use containers, food ware, packaging and the other plastic “stuff” we know we could easily live without. Because it can take hundreds of years to degrade, all of that plastic waste is still out there in some form, clogging landfills, littering our streets, polluting our oceans and beaches, and harming marine life and the public's health.

That’s why we’re working to get our city to serve as the green model for the state by entirely banning plastic bags!

A few years ago we were the group that passed California’s single use plastic bag ban and got the UCs to commit to phase out plastics! So we know we can take that to the next level here at Berkeley and have the city lead the way for the state by closing the plastic bag loophole.
