Wisconsin has let down our Black sisters and brothers.

African Americans across Wisconsin face high levels of unemployment and barriers to economic opportunity that prevent them from getting ahead. Our criminal justice system disproportionately penalizes Black individuals, and recent events in Milwaukee have pointed a spotlight on injustices committed by police towards communities of color.  

The Black Lives Matter movement arose to combat racism in our country, and it’s clear that law enforcement needs to be reformed in order to protect our communities. We need to stand in solidarity and send a message that the fight for racial justice is not just a moment – it is a movement.

The path to advancing racial justice may be difficult, but it starts by backing politicians who are dedicated to addressing racial disparity, leaders who refuse to stay silent in the wake of injustice.
