Call on the Federal Government to fund a new state-of-the-art aged care facility in Bright

People who grow up and live their life in Bright and surrounds, deserve to be able to grow old here.

But right now, there is nowhere in Bright equipped to deliver high-needs aged care. Hawthorn Village has been a much-loved facility and plays an important community role, but it is not fit-for-purpose to deliver the high-level complex care that many people need.

As a result, too many people are forced to leave the area in order to get the care they need. This places huge stress on our elderly, and their families.

That’s why we need a new, state-of-the-art residential aged care facility here in Bright.

A new facility would give people in Bright, but also the surrounding towns like Porepunkah and Harrietville, the peace of mind that they won’t need to leave the valley as they grow old.

Alpine Health has developed a masterplan to redevelop Bright Hospital – and part of that is a plan for a new $26 million aged care facility.

We call on the Federal Government to commit $26 million in funding for the new aged care facility in Bright.
