Call NY state leadership: Peoples' lives are at risk - PPL Doesn't Pay!
DOH and PPL promised that workers who had registered by April 1 would get paid. Like so many of their promises, this was a lie.
Hundreds of thousands of low-income home care workers haven't been paid adequately or at all for over 2 months now. This is a crisis. CDPAP workers live paycheck to paycheck. That means hundreds of thousands of families can’t cover groceries, bills, car payments this week.
This failed transition threatens care for hundreds of thousands of older and disabled New Yorkers. When workers can't get paid, they can't afford to continue providing care. 1 in 5 consumers who lost staff have already suffered health consequences due to inadequate care.

CALL SCRIPT:
Hi my name is [YOUR NAME], I live at [ADDRESS]. The transition of the Consumer-Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) to corporation PPL has been a disaster for older, disabled, and home care worker New Yorkers across the state.
[OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE YOUR OWN STORY AND ASK FOR HELP].
The court system will not solve this, the governor will not solve this, we need you to be a leader right now. We need you to pass legislation to ensure vetted FIs can re-open and start paying workers since PPL has failed to do so.
SPEAKER HEASTIE ASK: --> Will you save lives and pass A8355 to allow independent living centers that started CDPAP to re-open and create a safety net to ensure workers are paid?
MAJORITY LEADER STEWART-COUSINS ASK: -->Will you save lives and move S1189 to the floor for a vote to Save CDPAP?
