Cost of Living Action / We Care Craftivism Sign Up Form
From turning off the heating to skipping meals, managing without that broken appliance to cutting back on little luxuries, almost everyone has a story about how they are struggling with the cost of living.
As you know, this isn't a new situation: we have been living like this for years now. People barely surviving, let alone living. We can't keep going on like this: we need action now (yesterday, actually).
That's why this winter We Care is teaming up with Cost of Living Action to take a powerful message to parliament.
Cost of Living Action is a coalition made up of We Care and more than 50 other civil society organisations, trade unions and grassroots groups united to end the cost of living crisis.
And we're adding our unique We Care spin to our collative action: Craftivism (craft + activism)
Craftivism is a unique way to bring the voices of those with lived experience to decision makers.
Stitch your thoughts and feelings of the cost of living onto a panel.
What you'll be stitching:
Choose a moment or a room in your home that shows how the cost of living crisis hits your life.
It might be:
- a cold room you can't afford to heat
- the food shop that's getting more expensive
- the prepay meter that eats your money
- broken appliances you can't replace
- the letters you dread opening
This project has been designed to fit around our busy lives. If you are interested in participating you will receive a free kit in the post with everything you need to take part and you'll be invited to join webinars to learn about stitching and meet others taking part. Your contribution will be displayed in Westminster in the Spring.
