The Court in Crisis: What's Next for Progressives After Kavanaugh
Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court despite multiple sexual assault allegations and clear evidence that he lied under oath to the Senate. His confirmation has fully politicized the Supreme Court and put its legitimacy into doubt.
With the Court in crisis, what can progressives do to save it?
We are excited to announce that we will be joined by Tom Perez, previously the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights in the Obama administration. We will also hear from U.S. Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), a leading progressive voice in the new House majority who is already expressing support for bold reforms to the Supreme Court.
We also have an amazing lineup of academics, advocates and activists who have been shaping the conversation about how progressives can fight back against the conservative heist of the Court. They include:
Eleanor Brown, Professor, Penn State University
Lisa Graves, Former Chief Nominations Counsel for Sen. Patrick Leahy, Co-Director of Documented
Elie Mystal, Editor-in-Chief, Above the Law
Sean McElwee, Adviser, 1.20.21 Project
Ganesh Sitaraman, Professor, Vanderbilt University
Todd Tucker, Political scientist, Fellow, Roosevelt Institute
Join Demand Justice for a special event—December 5, 5:30pm—to examine the future of the Court. RSVP to save your spot today.
