Create a Paint the Province Purple event in your community
Register your local’s door-to-door canvass or community outreach event this summer and join CUPE locals from across Ontario as we Paint the Province Purple! We'll talk with parents, caregivers and community members about how underfunding is impacting our schools and students. We are going to ask parents, caregivers and community members to:
- Sign the OSBCU petition calling on the Provincial government to commit to increasing funding to hire more education workers in schools across Ontario.
- Put a “Together for Publicly Funded Education” sign on their lawn or in their window.
Call their MPP.
Education workers and supporters of public education will knock on doors to talk with our neighbours about how the Provincial Government cuts to staff is impacting schools and students.
Register a canvass or community outreach event by filling out the form.
Tell us:
- Where volunteers can meet you – please include the exact address of the meet up location. Make sure there is parking nearby.
- The start time of the event. Try to keep the event to two hours maximum including briefing and debriefing of how it went.
- Details: what do you want people to bring (i.e. raincoats in case of rain?), what should they look for to find you, etc.
Once you submit an event using the form, we will create an event sign up page that you can use to sign up members from your local, parents and other community supporters in your local community and members from other education unions to sign up. We will send you the rsvp link and it will be added to the OSBCU website at this page: Paint the Province Purple - OSBCU
