Why join
Climate breakdown has begun. We need disruption to end the destruction - and we need absolutely everyone to make it happen.
December Rebellion coincides with the last week of the United Nations climate talks (COP28) in the United Arab Emirates - UAE. In a shameful move, the Arab Emirates have already started to pre-arrest known climate activists to deter protests. But we can be loud here, and we must be!!
After 27 similar festivals of ‘blah, blah, blah’, with the evidence of climate catastrophe all around, and a federal government still approving new coal and gas projects, it is clear that the politics-as-usual is not capable of delivering the emergency transition we so desperately need.
When governments fail, it's the people who must rise up and make change.
The schedule
On the first day, Tuesday 5 December, we will be building our community with workshops, sharing, team building, and information on how to get involved at the level that suits you.
- Sign up for the whole Community Building day here.
On the following three days, Wednesday 6 December - Friday 8 December, we will have a variety of actions in the CBD and beyond. There will be disruptive actions to suit different levels of risk, with plenty of opportunity to learn the skills you need - as well as a chance to have fun, get colourful, and make a raucous ruckus.
- Explore the up to date Actions schedule here and sign up to find out more.
The biggest day of action, Saturday 9 December will be a day of mass civil resistance – a spectacular display of people power, as we take to the streets for a strong show of nonviolent civil disobedience.
- Sign up for the Slow March for Climate here.
At the end of the march, the aim is for 300 people, or more, to sit peacefully on the road and refuse to move. We want to see thousands in the streets demanding change, joining together to learn, grow and rise to the challenge of these extraordinary times. This is a first step. It is very important you register for this action.

The final day, Sunday 10 December, will be a day to debrief, regenerate and plan the next steps. Stay tuned for updates.
We need your skills, creative talents, energy and time. When you register, please tell us how you would like to help.
