No one should have to choose between their job and their family. But without universal paid family and medical leave, every year thousands of Delawareans are forced to make that impossible choice.
Delaware Cares is a coalition of organizations, businesses, networks, health, faith and community leaders committed to passing a universal paid family and medical leave law in the 2021 Delaware General Assembly. Paid family and medical leave can be used to:
- Address a worker’s own serious health condition
- Care for a family member with a serious health condition
- Bond with a new child (including newborn, foster, and adopted children)
- Address the impact of a family member’s military deployment
- Handle legal, medical, and practical matters relating to domestic violence
Everyone will face a major medical event or emergency at one point in their life, and the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more urgent than ever that we make paid family and medical leave a reality for every Delawarean.
