"Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has not only created a humanitarian crisis, but also shocked the global petroleum market, sending gas prices skyrocketing. The oil market is fragile in part because it is largely produced in fragile parts of the world, in countries run by dictators and despots. The answer is not more domestic production, but to dramatically reduce the United States' dependence on fossil fuels. We can fight authoritarianism and climate change at the same time by making massive investments in clean, renewable energy."
