Help Build the New 40th Ward Democratic Organization

We are building the 40th Ward Democratic Organization with the people of the 40th Ward, for the people of the 40th Ward and we need your help!

What is a ward organization? A ward organization is the partisan, volunteer group made up of neighbors of a given ward. We help increase voter turnout by reaching neighbors at their doors, phone and text banks, and additional points of contact to increase awareness and education about an election and the candidates running for office.

To get started, we are looking to build upon the beginning foundation of a ward organization by a series of planning meetings. All members of the community are welcome to join any planning meeting.

Bylaws and Rules Help build the foundation of bylaws and rules that are inclusive and fair, while remaining committed to our community, the 40th Ward Democratic Organization mission, and providing opportunities for any and all to be involved.

Candidate Endorsements During election season, Cook County Committeepeople get together to endorse candidates at the Cook County Democratic Party (CCDP) level. Let's build a structure to have community consensus before heading into the endorsement session, and if the party endorsement does not align with our community values, how will the 40th Ward Democratic Organization come together to support our endorsed candidates.

Judicial Recommendation Committee This committee is built of lawyers, social workers, criminal justice advocates and organizers, and others who live in the 40th Ward to help determine the support of the 40th Ward Democratic Organization of our Judicial Candidates in an election.

Precinct Captain A precinct captain is the lead organizer of a precinct in the 40th to increase voter turnout and election awareness during election season. Actions could include: door knocking, lit dropping, phone and texting a precinct, and other ward organization activities. This is all based on your personal availability and can be accompanied by other neighbors to share the responsibilities.

Events/Fundraising The 40th Ward Democratic Organization will need to fundraise throughout the year to function. Additionally throwing events to increase election and candidate awareness is also necessary to educate our neighbors. If you have fundraising and/or event organizing experience, or would like to learn, your expertise could be used to build the 40th Ward Democratic Organization.

Tech and Data We have systems we can use to see the trend in voting in the ward and help increase voter turnout. Let's build a team to analyze, report, and increase voter education.

Marketing We need to build our marketing from the ground up! That includes a logo, building a website, our social media channels, graphics, and more to hit the ground running for November 2020! If you have any skills above or management skills, you are needed!
