HEROES First—Tell the Senate to Pass COVID-19 Relief Now!

The HEROES Act, a comprehensive COVID-19 relief package, has been sitting on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s desk since May 15.

Meanwhile, America has lost Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the greatest jurists in our nation’s history—a consistent, unshakable champion of civil and women’s rights and the freedom to form a union.

Working people deserve real relief from COVID-19, which has killed more than 200,000 Americans. And we deserve a voice in the future of the Supreme Court. Using the precious final few days of the 116th Congress to ram through a Supreme Court nomination would deny us both, only adding insult to injury.

The HEROES Act includes an emergency workplace infectious disease standard; gives aid for state and local governments, public schools, the U.S. Postal Service, and pension funding relief; keeps workers on payrolls to avoid mass layoffs; extends unemployment insurance; provides more direct payments to working people; extends health care coverage; provides housing and food benefits; and much more.

This comprehensive COVID-19 relief package has been sitting on Sen. McConnell’s desk since May 15, while over the past several months, the number of those who have been infected with COVID-19 has exponentially increased in nearly every state, and millions of Americans have been left unemployed through no fault of their own.

Let your senators know that COVID-19 relief is your priority, and the priority of all working people. Tell them this is a moment for the HEROES Act, not a Supreme Court power grab.
