Honoring our Connection to the Earth Through Faith

The Interfaith Working Group (IFWG) of the Fairbanks Climate Action Coalition (FCAC) is a recent recipient of a Healing Starts Here grant entitled “Spiritual Foundations for Civic Action towards Climate Justice.” One of the projects funded by this grant is the distribution of mini-grants to Fairbanks faith communities for use in making their places of worship more sustainable and caring for vulnerable people.

A previous round of mini-grants in 2021 funded 8 projects, including energy efficient upgrades for faith facilities, a water catchment system, and support for vulnerable people, such as community gardens, and a blessing box project.

This form serves as the initial application to partner with the Interfaith Working Group in seeking to conserve energy and support vulnerable people. We ask that you consider the total cost of your project and also note if there will be any contribution to the project from your community in terms of finances or volunteer support. We are also interested in what earth care projects your faith community has already been doing.

We will consider all projects requesting from $500.00 to $10,000. Please note anything your faith community has already done toward the project. We intend to designate the funding among as many communities of faith as possible according to their need and relevance of the project and its connection to earth stewardship/creation care.

Selection Criteria:
   Application complete and on time
Project appropriate to Earth Care/climate justice and is feasible
Potential for collaboration with the faith community
