From stories that center racially diverse characters to LGTBQ+ stories, these reactionaries are hell-bent on silencing the voices of people that aren’t like them.

Former President Obama issued a rare statement thanking public libraries and librarians for their support of access to literature – and condemned the efforts of Republicans like Ron DeSantis to weaponize & ban books in their states.

Children and students deserve free access to information, not just the subjects that are greenlit by the Republican Party. That’s why we’re asking the Department of Education to reject any efforts to ban books and allow individuals and parents to make the decision about what they can read and believe.
