We as workers are being held back and kept down in so many ways, day after day. The high cost of living alongside wages that stay the same. Disruptive managers and cold employers who don't treat us like full human beings, just as money producers. If we turn to the government for support during a crisis moment, we see a safety net now full of holes.

Local leaders often want to intervene on behalf of workers, but budget crises caused by tax giveaways and disinvestment in our communities and infrastructure are creating worse outcomes for all. And on top of that, corporate lobbyists and pro-employer lawmakers in Baton Rouge have often tied our hands and prevented better economic outcomes for lower wage workers.

It's time to devise new solutions and reclaim local power to create a better future for our neighbors and ourselves! Low-wage workers and their allies across industries are welcome here to build a multiracial movement that could transform local labor standards and our everyday lives.
